Manage your issues in a tree using standard Jira relations and fields
Manage your issues in a tree using standard Jira relations and fields
Use Pixel Welding's Hierarchies to show in a single tree all the project's issues. Summarize the status of the children issues, create new issues from a hierarchized view and navigate easily in your project's historical issues.
The application is an app for Jira, you can find it on Atlassian's Marketplace. Install it as any other app for Jira.
Once the add-on is installed, you need to setup the hierarchies for your projects. To do so, go to the "App" menu on the top bar and choose "Manage your apps", you will find Pixel Welding's Hierarchies configuration under "Hierarchies" section and "Configuration" option on the left bar.
There you can find the available hierarchies. You can edit, delete or create a new one following a simple and common interface. You are not restricted to have a single hierarchy, you can have as much as you need.
Each hierarchy is composed of different levels, you need to define your hierarchy based on how your work in Jira is structured. You have an on-screen help dialog on how to setup your hierarchy.
Once you have your hierarchies defined you will find the section "Hierarchized Issues" on the side-bar panel of every project, just choose the corresponding hierarchy you want to visualize, and that's all, you will be presented with a tree view of all of your issues.
In the tree view you can:
Expand or collapse at any hierarchy level to see the children issues.
Add a new children issue by clicking on the Create link under the Actions column. All needed fields will be propagated already to maintain the hierarchy correctly.
Click on any issue to edit the fields, any update on the fields will be reflected on the tree view automatically.
